The star Betelgeuse, which is one of the brightest stars seen in the night sky, is losing mass. This indicates that it is collapsing and could go super-nova at any time. If this happens it would appear to us on earth as a second sun, at least for some time. In addition, Earth will be showered with harmless particles, a neutrino shower, that will flow through our bodies and through the Earth with absolutely no harm whatsoever.
