Squidoo is a very popular Web 2.0 Social site that has taken the online world by storm in the past few years. While it is still becoming popular you should consider joining now since the availability of niche keyword lens titles will diminish over time. Squidoo has become as popular as blogging to make money online. To become a successful lensmater you need to get the hang of Squidoo.
The nice points about Squidoo are that it requires very little HTML knowledge; it is a great way to promote your other websites, blogs and get free online advertising. In addition, Squidoo’s platform allows you to combine your affiliate marketing techniques with article marketing and get more traffic and visors for your Squidoo lenses. Not only can you use Squidoo to get backlinks to your other websites or blogs but your Squidoo lens can generate income by itself.
There are different monetization methods you can use within your Squidoo lenses. Squidoo is free making it a great way to earn money online without any investment. In order to receive income from your Squidoo lens you will need to sign up for a Paypal account, which is also free. You can also opt to give some or all the money your lens earns to charity.
Your Squidoo lens can generate income with built in programs:
Google Adsense (shared with Squidoo), Amazon, EBay, and CafePress. Within your lense you can add these modules displaying products for sale that contain your affiliate IDs. So it would be a good idea to sign up for these affiliate programs prior to creating your lens. The products you choose to display should be related to the content of your lens. Squidoo also allows you to include other affiliate links like Clickbank as long as the programs do not promote gambling.
To earn more money with your lens it is important to make your lens search engine friendly, with good content that is updated frequently. You can also use social bookmarking tools to promote your lens. The more visitors you get the chances of making money increases!
Picking a topic that is popular and of interest to readers is important. Keyword research and developing your content around your keywords is the same as if your were building a website. When you create your Squidoo lens, the first step is to describe what your lens is about. This is a very important step since this will be part of your lens’ URL and cannot be changed. Using your main keyword here is a smart tactic.
Next is to choose a title for your lens. Again, including your main keyword in the title would be a good idea. Most importantly your title needs to attract readers, so it should be interesting but be relevant to your content.
Within your Squidoo lens you have choices of modules to add. These modules can include text, photos or a list of links. Again, including your keywords in each module without spamming them will help your rankings. As you know, Google will rank you by the quality of your content and the usefulness of your content to readers, so bear that in mind when creating your modules and content.
PHOTOS: If you use photographs displayed within your lens rename the jpg or gif files using your keywords prior to uploading them to your Squidoo lens.
TAGS: Squidoo also lets you use TAGS for your lens. Use the relevant keywords that you researched prior to creating your lens. A maximum of 40 tags for each lens is allowed.
PROMOTION: In addition to making your lens SEO friendly when you create it, you will also want to promote your lenses and update them frequently. And that’s a whole other ballgame so I’ll write more on promotion later.

I’ve always been reluctant to use Squidoo but after reading your post I think I will give it a try and see how it works for me. I just don’t have a lot of time to devote to it. If it’s as great and easy to use as you say then maybe I’ll get addicted to it haha. Thanks for the post.
